چکیده
Based on clinical as well as experimental studies, limited operation of choice was evaluated for the management of lung cancer. From clinical analysis of 39 cases who underwent limited lung resection, our clinical experiences indicated that this operative procedure would be feasible for a large tumors of approximately 4cm in diameter. However, the incidence of lymphnode metastasis is more likely to be high when applied to the tumors of more than 3cm in diameter. The favorable indication, therefore, is for the cancer less than 3cm in diameter. By careful evalution of 7 cases with postoperative recurrence, it has become obvious that either the degree of cell differentiation or the existence of lymph nodes metastasis strongly participate in its prognosis. According to hemodynamic studies immediately after surgery, limited resection of the lung is preferred to conventional radical lobectomy for patients with cardiovascular malfunction because it serves to eliminate a possible left ventricular failure after surgery. An experimental research also demonstrated favorably hemodynamic benifits of limited resection for reducing left ventricular overloading on coronary diseased heart which is experimentally prepared by either creation of stenosis of the main left coronary artery or ligation of the left descending coronary artery. The immune response in the lymphnodes to a tumor growth also was attested in C3H mice with use of MH 134 tumor inoculated, especially in relation to the time of tumor

Analysis of the Results of Pulmonary Resection by Minimally Invasive Thoracoscopy for the Surgical Treatment of Lung Cancer
Introduction: Lung cancer is the disease of modern era, and the rate of lung cancer mortality is three times as high as that for prostate cancer and twice as high as the rate for breast cancer. We aimed to analyze the results of pulmonary resection in patients with NSCLC by minimally invasive thoracoscopy. Materials and Methods: We studied 10 patients with NSCLC scheduled for surgical resectio...
متن کاملHistory of limited resection for non-small cell lung cancer.
A retrospective study of limited resection for lung cancer in a large number of patients was first reported in the 1970s. The reported outcome of segmentectomy was comparable to that of standard lobectomy. The North American Lung Cancer Study Group (LCSG) performed a randomized controlled clinical trial to compare limited resection (segment or wedge) with lobectomy for T1N0 (stage IA) non-small...
متن کاملPredictors and outcomes of limited resection for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer.
BACKGROUND Lobectomy is considered the standard treatment for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC); however, more limited resections are commonly performed. We examined patient and surgeon factors associated with limited resection and compared postoperative and long-term outcomes between sublobar and lobar resections. METHODS A population- and health system-based sample of patients ...
متن کاملPulmonary Resection for Metachronous Lung Cancer Following Contralateral Pneumonectomy
Patients who undergo pneumonectomy for lung cancer are at risk of recurrent disease and metachronous tumours in the remaining lung. Establishing a diagnosis can be difficult as biopsy may induce a pneumothorax, whilst resection is limited by remaining lung function. However, pneumonectomy should not be a contraindication to further lung resection. We report two cases of lung cancer resection in...
متن کاملTriage of Limited Versus Extensive Disease on 18F-FDG PET/CT Scan in Small Cell lung Cancer
Objective(s): Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive neuroendocrine carcinoma, which accounts for 10-15% of pulmonary cancers and exhibits early metastatic spread. This study aimed to determine the added value of 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging in tumor, node, and metastasis (TNM) staging of SCLC, compared to the conventional computed tomography (CT) scan and its potential role as a prognosticat...
متن کاملLimited resection for non-small cell lung cancer: observed local control with implantation of I-125 brachytherapy seeds.
BACKGROUND Limited resection for lung cancer has been associated with a relatively high incidence of local recurrence. This retrospective study evaluates the impact of implanting radioactive iodine-125 (125I) seeds along the resection margin in these patients. METHODS Thirty-three patients with lung cancer who were not candidates for lobectomy or pneumonectomy underwent a limited resection of...
